Early Gum Cards

The years between the start of the Depression and the start of World War II may have been bad for the U.S. economy, but they truly were a golden age for baseball as the generation of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig overlapped with that of Joe DiMaggio and Ted Williams. Included here are cards from three major makers, Goudey (Big League Gum), National Chicle (Diamond Stars and Batter-Ups) and Gum Inc. (Play Ball and 1941 Double Play), along with an assortment of cards from lesser known manufacturers like Butterfinger, DeLong, Tattoo Orbit, Gold Medal Flour, Clopay, Wheaties, O-Pee-Chee and the Exhibit Supply Company.
